Adding up transition costs

Transition isn’t cheap and when it comes to keeping track of how much I’m spending, I’ve been quite meticulous. I made the official decision to transition in May/June 2012, but I didn’t start HRT until three months ago. Below is a rough breakdown of what I’ve spent to date while living in New Jersey and having health insurance: $2287 - Therapy. Twenty sessions since last May. My therapist is out-of-network so I have to pay out of pocket, but she is very experienced with LGBT people, especially the T so I willingly pay to visit her rather than going to a covered therapist. Making a new ally at work

Today, I went into the office with my nails still painted from the weekend. I probably should have made sure to not forget to take it off since I’m only out to a handful of people at work right now, but I didn’t. The only problem now is that I’ve got double accounts on so many sites that I still try to manage. I’m growing very tired of having to manage two identities because I’m not openly out just yet. Pretty rad email I received from a friend today

A friend of mine is putting together a big 30th birthday celebration for himself in October of this year. He’s getting a party bus to go down to Atlantic City and planning a pretty solid bash to ring in the next decade of his life. I responded to the invite by asking him how he thinks his friends would handle me going. At this point, I’ve met them all a ton of times at parties and such, but they currently only know me as and have no idea I’m transitioning (mutual friends excluded from all of this, they all know and support me). I am not, nor have I ever been, a cross-dresser

Inconsistent 08 - Cross-dressing by ~PatchworkDollDotCom I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently. I don’t remember exactly when I started wearing women’s clothing, I think it was sometime around fifth grade. It was always this weird mix of feelings for me. I usually felt out of place in the clothes. Not because the _clothes_ were wrong, but because my _body_ was wrong. [Read More]
